Successful Grant Application: Aboriginal Business Development and Capacity Building

Harvey Aboriginal Corporation (HAC) was successful in its grant application to the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) Culture and the Arts RACIP Aboriginal Arts Capacity Building 2019 - 2023 (Aboriginal Business Development and Capacity Building 2022 - 2023) funding program.

HAC was one of eight organisations from regional and rural Western Australia to receive the grant which aims to create economic development, tourism opportunities and social cohesion by supporting the arts and culture industry’s contribution to the liveability and vibrancy of communities.

Funding of $30,000 has been approved to deliver the Kaartdijin Yeyi, Moorditj Mila (Knowledge Today for a Strong Future) project. HAC will use funds to engage Breakaway Tourism to assist us in developing a masterplan/roadmap to maximise cultural tourism and economic diversification through the arts. This consultant will work alongside HAC to co-develop a planned way for the future - engaging and consulting with the local community. The project will involve conducting consultation, research and analysis including reviewing local, regional, state and national plans, policies and data; identifying opportunities through key target markets and potential grants and funding opportunities; developing a strategic action plan with specific outcomes and implementation guidance; and creating strong cultural and arts-based tourism products/services to market effectively.

Minister for Culture and Arts the Honourable David Templeman MLA wrote to HAC with congratulations on best wishes on the successful delivery of the program.
